Telling our story
We are in the midst of a second reformation in Anglicanism, a return to principles, precepts and
convictions of the first reformation.
Simultaneously, we are in the throws of a seismic shift in the composition and organizational structures
of global Anglicanism. With the increasingly unbiblical theology of the western Anglican Churches
alienating parishioners, these organizations are shriveling. Simultaneously the vibrant, Biblical churches
in the developing world are growing rapidly. Today, the majority of active Anglicans live in Africa.
The strains and fractures in institutional Anglicanism reflect these two dynamics. But in the midst of this
stress, and with the support and encouragement of global Anglican leaders, a vibrant, renewed,
Biblically-grounded Anglicanism is once again springing up in North America.
We are excited to be part of this growing reformation movement.
Parish Talking Point
1. We have formed a church under the care and protection of a biblically-faithful Anglican bishop, Bishop Donald Harvey, and the diocese of the Anglican Network in Canada.
• In doing so, we join 35 other congregations in the Anglican Network in Canada with an average Sunday attendance of over 3500.
• We also join the 100,000-member Anglican Church in North America with its more than 800 churches and 28 dioceses.
2. We have chosen to align with the Anglican Network in Canada because of our commitment to historic Christian and Anglican teaching, our belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and our affirmation that there is only one way to God and that is through faith in Jesus Christ.
• We want to faithfully preserve the Faith that has been entrusted to us by our forebears, so we can pass it on, intact and unaltered, to future generations.
• The issue of sexuality is merely the tip of the iceberg – a symbol of the much deeper malaise in a church that has succumbed to secular culture and forfeited its inheritance.
3. We stand firmly in the mainstream of global and historic Anglican teaching and orthodoxy. Our beliefs are shared by roughly two-thirds of the 77 million Anglicans worldwide.
• In fact, by clearly aligning with Bible-believing Anglicans around the world, we are simply rejoining what the Anglican Church of Canada is leaving.
• So, you could say that, rather than leaving, we’re actually staying – Staying true to the fundamental and historic tenets of Anglican Christianity and staying in full communion with the global Anglican Church.
We want people to know that:
• We love Jesus
• We believe the Bible to be the inspired, unchanging Word or God
• We are doing this because we value our Anglican heritage and want to stay true to global and
historic Anglican teaching and orthodoxy
